Surrounded by mountains between the Omo River and its tributary the Mago, the home of the Mursi is one of the most isolated regions of the country. Their neighbors include the Aari, the Banna, the Bodi, the Kara, the Kwegu, the Me'en the Nyangatom and the Suri. They are grouped together with the Me'en and Suri by the Ethiopian government under the name Surma.

One fascinating encounter of many, on a very memorable Syder Travel tour of Ethiopia's Omo Valley, home to a very intriguing mix of many small and distintive tribal groups. Here the colourful and beautifil girls of Hamer tribe are performing traditional song and dance. The final scene of the video shows how the Hamer women matt their hair with fertile earth to give it that rich reddy orange colour. - Hamer Tribe, Omo Valley
